Mandatory Credit: Sergio Estrada-Imagn Images All-Star shortstop Jacob Wilson signed a seven-year contract extension with the Athletics, the team announced Friday.
The 23-year-old's deal runs through the 2032 season and contains a club option for 2033. ESPN reported it is worth $70 million.
The 2025 American League Rookie of the Year runner-up behind teammate Nick Kurtz, Wilson batted .311 with 151 hits, 13 home runs and 63 RBI in 125 games. New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge was the only major leaguer with a superior batting average.
Fans voted for Wilson to start in the All-Star Game in Atlanta, where his father, retired shortstop Jack Wilson, completed his 12-year career with the Braves in 2012.
Wilson was the No. 6 overall draft pick in 2023. He debuted with the A's in 2024 and hit .250 in 28 appearances.
He is one of four core A's under contract through at least 2028, when the franchise intends to relocate to a ballpark under construction in Las Vegas. The A's went 76-86 and missed a fifth straight postseason in 2025 while playing out of Sutter Health Park, a Triple-A field in Sacramento.
